High Winds Leave Damage to Range, Power OUT

A flash rainstorm accompanied by high winds left damages to parts of our Range on Tuesday Evening. It also left the Range without power. Several properties on Indian Creek Rd. were also left without power. The powerful storm moved through the area very quickly and in the matter of 7-10 minutes, the high winds damaged several trees, the fences bordering the skeet range, the port-a-potty, and the flags. The Range was also left without electricity.

Club President, Terri Blevins and Range Officer, Ed Yowell worked for almost 2 hours to remove some of the broken trees and get them out of the road areas. The Texas and DeZavala flags which were removed from broken flag rings, will be replaced once new hardware is installed.

This morning, power was restored. The Range Officer spent most of the morning chopping the broken limbs and branches for removal. The Range border fences will probably be replaced soon.

Rifle, Pistol Ranges Get Wheelchair Accessible Ramps

This Week, the rifle and pistol ranges each got an enhancement, the addition of wheelchair accessible ramps.

In the past, a few members have indicated that wheelchair bound family or guests they have brought to the Range, had difficulty with access to the respective range shooting positions because they lacked the ramps. The Club’s Officers
had met prior to the annual meeting to discuss the Club’s needs and a decision was made to get the contractor who was putting in the base for the new storage unit, to add the ramps.

If you have a family member or guest that is wheelchair bound, we ask that you check them out and give us some feedback.

Heavy Storms Leave Damage on Club’s Range

Major thunderstorms for 3 consecutive days have left some visible damage to our Range. On Saturday morning, it was discovered that a major flash flood had crossed the property (south to north) in the “creek” or “pond” area of the range. The Result was major sludge and debris being washed and pushed to the extreme north end of the pond area. Some debris even washed up and out of the pond area onto the road/drive to the outer Range.

Members are asked NOT TO DRIVE out on the the Range target areas for a few days since the ground is soaked and very, very soft and muddy. Even one storm typically leaves the Range ground area very muddy.

Kansas to allow Concealed Carry without Permit or Training

This will make the Anti-Gunners extremely Crazy !

On Thursday, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback (R) signed a law authorizing the carrying of concealed handguns in the state without a license or a training requirement.

“I am pleased to sign Senate Bill 45 bill today. I have been – and continue to be – a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights,” Brownback said Thursday as he signed the bill, flanked by Republican lawmakers and representatives from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Kansas State Rifle Association (KSRA).
“Responsible gun ownership – for protection and sport – is a right inherent in our Constitution,” he said, “It is a right that Kansans hold dear and have repeatedly and overwhelmingly reaffirmed a commitment to protecting.”

The bill, known as constitutional carry, was introduced into the state Senate with 26 co-sponsors – five more legislators than necessary to pass the bill, the Wichita Eagle reported. It passed the GOP-led Senate 31-7 in February. One Republican voted against the bill, and two Democrats voted for it. In the state House of Representatives, the bill passed 85-39 at the end of March, with four Democrats supporting it, and 16 Republicans voting against it.
