With the permission of the family of Bob Ellis:

Memorial Services for Bob Ellis
Saturday, June 4th at 2pm
Church of God
2501 SE 14th Ave.

14-070804
I am notifying our membership that Bob Ellis died on Friday, May 27th. The cause of death is still undetermined at this time. He was 72 years old and had been a member of the Brazos River Gun and Archery Club for many years. He was the Club’s Vice-President and had served as VP since 2009.

Bob loved guns.

Bob was interested in, and owned many types of firearms, but loved 1911’s. At one point owning 60 or more 1911’s in various calibers.

He also enjoyed cars. And had been working on restoring a Chevelle for the last several years. After a lot of work on the Chevelle, he actually had driven the Chevelle for the first time, just 2 days before his death.

His wife, Gail became a member of the Club in 2011. She serves as a Club officer and is the Women’s Liason to the Club.

Memorial services are pending and we will update this information as soon as it is available.

High Winds Leave Damage to Range, Power OUT

A flash rainstorm accompanied by high winds left damages to parts of our Range on Tuesday Evening. It also left the Range without power. Several properties on Indian Creek Rd. were also left without power. The powerful storm moved through the area very quickly and in the matter of 7-10 minutes, the high winds damaged several trees, the fences bordering the skeet range, the port-a-potty, and the flags. The Range was also left without electricity.

Club President, Terri Blevins and Range Officer, Ed Yowell worked for almost 2 hours to remove some of the broken trees and get them out of the road areas. The Texas and DeZavala flags which were removed from broken flag rings, will be replaced once new hardware is installed.

This morning, power was restored. The Range Officer spent most of the morning chopping the broken limbs and branches for removal. The Range border fences will probably be replaced soon.

Rifle, Pistol Ranges Get Wheelchair Accessible Ramps

This Week, the rifle and pistol ranges each got an enhancement, the addition of wheelchair accessible ramps.

In the past, a few members have indicated that wheelchair bound family or guests they have brought to the Range, had difficulty with access to the respective range shooting positions because they lacked the ramps. The Club’s Officers
had met prior to the annual meeting to discuss the Club’s needs and a decision was made to get the contractor who was putting in the base for the new storage unit, to add the ramps.

If you have a family member or guest that is wheelchair bound, we ask that you check them out and give us some feedback.
